This has been a good week and a sad week. Oak Ridge patrons raised money for the 1st Responders Group, and we lost a friend and Webb Lake original.
Our good friend OJ Arsts passed away unexpectedly on Saturday. OJ was the Sunday bartender for many years at Oak Ridge. OJ loved his family, friends and life. He will be missed and remembered.
A BIG THANK YOU to all that participated in the Oak Ridge 1st Responders Golf Event (76 golfers and numerous volunteers).
Golf brought in a little over $700 for the charity, and the meat raffle / silent auction added $960 to the charity coffers. A grand total of $1,680 was raised. We will round it up and send a check for $1,700.00 to the 1st Responders!
Donations for prizes came from Cabaret, The Shop, Gliders, West Point Lodge, Oak Ridge, A & H Market, Northland Builders, Scott Friedman (who also gave freely of his time), Renee &Tom McDonough, Vern Harmon, Diageo, Saratoga Liquor, Badger Dist, Miller Beer. My apologies, if I missed anyone.
Dewey and Connie Lien, as usual, jump started the whole golf process. Thank you. And special thanks to Cindy Utter for all your help.
Voyageur Golf Club deserves a shout out for making their beautiful course available to us at such a friendly rate so we have more $$$ to donate to the cause.
1st Responders are a volunteer group that responds to medical emergencies in the Webb Lake area. Thank you for helping fund some of the costs they incur (supplies, insurance, etc).
There will be a 3rd Annual tournament next year. Mark it on your calendar for the Saturday following Labor Day weekend (September 12th, 2015). Bigger, better and more $$$ to be raised…
